Research Manager, Behavioral Sciences Based Marketing Research Company

Sentient Decision Science is seeking a Research Manager to join our team of researchers, behavioral scientists, and technologists at our headquarters in beautiful Portsmouth New Hampshire, one hour north of Boston.

The Research Manager position is occupied by someone who loves working with data and applying analytic methods to deliver research insights. This is a ‘hands on’ fulfillment role that is engaged in all functions throughout the quantitative research process.   

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Participate in internal project kick-off meetings to gain an understanding of the business issue and research objective, as well as project criteria such as target audience specifications, expected incidence, feasibility, sampling plan, panel budget and timeline.
  • Review and revise survey instruments to reflect screening criteria, brands, exercise instructions, programming logic and quota instructions. Transition test stimuli (imagery) as needed to properly execute within the survey exercises.
  • Serve as key point of contact with outside resources for survey programming, data processing and panel management.  As needed, program time-critical surveys.
  • Test surveys and confirm data from soft launch to ensure complete accuracy of programming and data capture. During data collection, frequently access survey and panel platforms to monitor and provide status on target audience representation, incidence, survey length, and quota fulfillment.
  • Download and merge data from all survey platforms, confirm that all data is captured, and variable and response values are clearly labeled. As needed, create additional variables, code/recode response values, and apply weighting.
  • Produce cross-tabulations as specified in the analysis plan and thoroughly check data files and tables for accuracy, clarity, and completeness prior to sharing with other team members.
  • Set up choice simulators with base market specifications as described in the analysis plan and create and upload variables for analysis of sub-groups in CBC. Run scenarios as specified to achieve desired research insights.
  • Transition various data output into charts and graphics within the specified Power Point template. Write initial insights that provide a clear and accurate interpretation of the graphics displayed on each page. Check work for accuracy and completeness.

Individuals in this position must possess a combination of strong technical skills, analytic thinking, creative problem solving, and precise attention to detail to efficiently manage multiple projects at any given time and meet timeline and quality requirements. Complementing these professional skills are excellent organization and communication abilities.
